Waste Water Treatment Plant

Waste water discharged by customers flows through approximately 50 miles of sanitary sewer lines to a city owned and operated waste water treatment plant.  The Town also maintains 7 pump stations and a series of force mains.

The current waste water treatment plant came online in 1994.  The plant cost $8.5 million to construct.  The plant has the capacity to treat 4 million gallons per day.  The plant is operating on an average of 1.3 million gallons per day.

The plant is staffed 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.  The plant has one superintendent, 6 plant operators, 1 maintenance mechanic and 1 lab technician.

The superintendent has a Grade IV Certification.  All plant operators and maintenance mechanic have a minimum Grade II Certification.  The lab technician has a Grade III Certification.

The Town also maintains an industrial pretreatment program with 3 permitted industries.  Each industry has strenuous limits placed on the following parameters but is not limited to:  Flow, BOD, TSS, Oil & Grease and pH.
